Fortescue Bay, TAS.

We camped at Mill Creek campground in the Fortescue Bay National Park. It was a great little camp, however we were treated to a large downpour of rain on our first evening while Kylie was making dinner outside. Everything was wet from that moment on.

The wildlife at the campground were super friendly, and a little annoying. The kookaburra loved sitting on his rock or up in the tree and looking for worms and bugs. The wallabies were not scared of us at all, and Elsie became friends with one. They watched Zara very closely making breakfast one morning and the mumma wallably had the cheek to steal a bite of toast of the plate. The currawong was very annoying and despite being chased away by Saul and the kids with sticks it still had the nerve to steal a piece of chicken off the plate right next to Kylie as she was cooking dinner.

We had a camp fire each night because it was so cold. We tried to perfect the damper, but it was tricky to get the fire hot enough with everything being wet, and then went a bit too hot once the kids collected some bark. Our first night we learnt a lot - it still tasted nice in the middle.

Our second night, we did much better.

Saul went for a walk out to Canoe Bay on our last day and saw an echnida and a few tiger snakes.

Kylie went for a walk to Cape Hauy and was rewarded for getting up early, by being able to enjoy the serenity and the view all to herself. The cliffs and the views looking back on the bay were stunning, photos do not do them justice. Sometimes it felt like 4 hours of stairs, but the hike stick Saul found for her came in extremely handy. (She felt those stairs for the next few days in the legs!!)
