Stirling Range National Park, WA

The weather in the South West corner of Western Australia is unusally wet and cold, even for winter. So instead of sticking to the coast, where they were predicted to get 30+mm of rain, we decided to stay more inland and see the ranges. Maybe not the best idea for the cold temperatures, but at least they didn't have the same volumes of rain.

The kids entertained themselves by trying to build card towers - which proved extra tricky in a wobbly caravan.

Between showers, we drove up to Bluff Knoll, one of WA's highest hills/mountains. The day before we arrived some tourists needed to be rescued off the Bluff by helicopter due to the bad weather conditions.

We drove the scenic drive around the National Park instead of walking in the rain, and saw some pretty cool views. Digger (which is what the kids have named the ute!!) did well on the wet tracks but did come out looking a bit muddy. We also had plenty of reminders, that with rain, comes rainbows!!! Remembering to find the silver lining.

We stopped by the little dutch windmill, and the local nudist crossing area!! haha. The story behind the nudist crossing is that the road in the area was a bit dangerous, so the locals put up the funny sign to encourage drivers to slow down. Since then, the roads have been upgraded, but the sign is still standing.

Between rain showers, we managed to go on a little bushwalk along a flower trail. Zara and Elsie enjoyed reading the map and trying to read the signs. Not many flowers are blooming at this time of year, but we did she a tree that the Aborigines used to make boomerangs, which they call "kylies".
