The Nullarbor and Eucla, WA.
Kylie was very excited to finally see the Nullarbor for the first time ever. The South Australian side didn't take too long to travel across and had some very nice lookouts to stop at.
Then before we knew it, the WA border was upon us, completely with Police and Quarantine inspectors all wearing face masks. We had to present our G2G border passes for all 5 of us (which took forever) and then inspect the car and caravan for any plants, veg, fruits, seeds, soil or honey!! We were a little bit worried they might take our shell collection but they didn't. Phew.
With all this drama and worry, we forgot to take a photo at the border. It's the police, act cool!! Haha.
We entered at about lunch time on May 15th. Fast forward 2 weeks time when Victoria has a COVID outbreak, and all Victorians to enter WA after 12.01am on May 16th had to get a COVID test and isolate for 14 days. We were so very lucky and entered with about 12 hours to spare.
Eucla was our first taste of WA and it was beautiful. But it did take a while to adjust to the sun going down at 5pm.
We stayed at a little campground just at the back of the sand dunes. The kids thought this was amazing. Over the back of our sand dune was an old ruin of the Eucla Telegraph Station. This was so much fun to play in that we all forgot to take photos.
We went for an explore on the beach over the dunes as well and found the old jetty, built some more sandcastles and had a little go at fishing on the beach.
After a fun overnight stop at Eucla, we did the long WA leg of the Nullarbor and drove all day til we reached Norseman. Here we had a much needed rest at the RV camp in the paddock next to the local footy oval. The oval was a nice spot to stretch the legs and it was a relief to hear the kids in the camp next to us making more noise than ours for a change.Norseman also had some cool tin camels.
