Port Augusta and Point Lowly, SA.

 Another big day in the car to get some km's under our belt. The sight of the Flinders Rangers and old farm house ruins was exciting. We saw lots of road works today and Bridie's new favourite phrase is " More Road works!!!!!" With the perfect sigh in her voice. Hahaha. 

The landscape coming over the ranges into Port Augusta has changed a bit since when we lived there. The power station stacks are gone and now replaced by large wind turbines. 


Our little house is still exactly the same though. ☺


After a quick stop for lunch at the boat ramp and seeing the progress on the new bridge, we kept driving to Point Lowly for the night.

South Australia have the best play grounds around.  Point Lowly was a ship and a castle which provided lots of imaginative games.


Saul managed to get the fishing rod out for the first time and caught a squid straight away. The kids thought this was amazing!!




A beautiful sunrise the next morning over the ranges.


We went for a walk to the Lighthouse before heading off again.



We stopped and had a look around Cowell. Again, another great playground to explore while waiting for the washing at the laundromat. Elsie is getting very confident on the swing by herself and flying high.

    Great photos! That sunrise on the ranges looked amazing. I bet the photo doesn't do it justice. Nice catch Saul!

Kununurra, WA.

 We returned to Kununurra to spend a good 5 days relaxing and exploring the area. We stayed at the Ivanhoe Tourist Park. The kids were very excited to see Harriet and Frankie's van as soon as we drove in. We also managed to catch up with Elsie and Zara's kindergarten teacher, Allison here in Kununurra. She is also travelling around Australia with her husband and her brother, sister-in-law and 2 nephews. It was so much fun to see Allison at the complete opposite corner of the country, the stars definitely aligned today. We visited Allison's caravan park, had a play on the playground with Aussie the kinder mascot, and took a photo under a big Boab tree. Quobba Station, WA

 King Waves Kill and Coral Cuts - that is all you need to know from this week. The most amazing snorkling on the West Coast of Australia - a sheltered little bay called "The Aquarium", highly recommended to us by Chris from DLO and it did not disappoint. We were always going to stay here but the only decision to make was to stay at the campground 2 mins walk away or at the station 10kms away. We eventually chose the station, mostly for the showers (and the washing machine!) and were pleasantly surprised by a very well equipped, newly resurfaced tennis court. The other campground was packed tightly like sardines, so we were very happy with our choice in the end. The more Saul researched Quobba the more he discovered that it is one of the best land based game fishing locations in the country. Anna Plains Station, WA.

 Our first long drive for a while and we drove 6 hours until we arrived at Anna Plains Station on 80 mile beach. It is a quiet little family run cattle station that usually only let 12 caravans in at a time, however due to the crazy tourist season this year (thanks COVID!) they are letting a few more people stay. But it was still very peaceful. And they had the cheapest washing machine so far on our travels ($2/load) which was a lovely change after Karratha. We woke up to the Brahmen cattle mooing in the mornings and the resident camel would wander around with the cows. Each evening the calves would need to be fed, so all the kids in the camp would get a go at feeding the baby calves and they could also pat the older calves as they have their pellets.
