Heading Home - VIC

We boarded the Spirit of Tasmania again to head back to Victoria. We loved Tassie so much, we will be back again, I'm sure. This time around because Tassie has no COVID we were allowed to walk around the boat and see all of its beauty! We went outside and watched the land disappear and watched the sunset. Then we ordered Pizza for tea from the restaurant. There was a playground for the kids plus a TV with cartoons. This was hit after a big day waiting around for the boat.  The decorations on the walls from a book around collective nouns for animals. Kylie enjoyed this a lot. It was a bit windier than our trip over but we all slept OK and woke up early back on main land Melbourne soil. We had some breakfast on land then drove to Pa's house in Newborough and we were reunited with Tommy Pup!! We had all been waiting for this day for so long and constantly talking about it. T

With the weather terribly miserable (even thought it is meant to be Spring!) and just a few days left in Tassie we headed back West to do a few things we missed out on at the start of our trip. We picked a spot central to our activities, and ended up at Pioneer Park in a small farming community called Riana just south of Penguin. It was a brilliantly run community park, boasting facilities better than some caravan parks. There were cute little huts, beautiful gardens, and a fun obstacle course playground that the kids enjoyed. On our first night we ticked off a Bucket List item and headed into Burnie at Dusk to catch a glimpse of the penguins. There is Little Penguin Conservation Colony right on the edge of town and each evening there are local volunteers that give tours and help people spot the penguins.  We were lucky to see quite a few coming up on the rocks from a big day fi
